Sala Don Khone's floating restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a drink or meal, especially in the evening as the sun sets. The amazing ambience and stunning views, together with a modestly priced quality menu makes this one of the best restaurants in town.
The English-speaking management and local staff are friendly and helpful and are eager to help you make the most of your stay. They will provide local tourist information or will happily practise their English by telling you about their village and lives.
Its stunning, spacious location has made Sala Don Khone an ideal host for local festivals. These traditional Lao ceremonies were beginning to die out due to lack of funds and knowledge. For example, with increasing drought in the area, Sala Don Khone went about reincarnating the ‘Rocket Festival'. This practise was used widely across Laos whereby rockets were fired into the clouds to induce much needed rain at the end of the dry season. This festival, the first of many on Don Khone, not only united the community, but also brought rain! Feel free to ask about up-coming events before your arrival.
